Leo Slemett is the youngest of 5. He was born and lives in Chamonix. On skis since he could walk, after racing gates and trying his hand at freestyle, it is freeride skiing that has allowed him to truly express himself, both in competition and far beyond. Today, his hard work has allowed him to realize a childhood dream to earn a living from his passion and to experience truly incredible adventures. He likes to try new things, meet new people, and travel. Early on, his parents passed down a taste for adventure that he continues to cultivate.

His reason for participating in the project:
“I heard about Project Maewan three days before setting foot on the boat. During the very short period of time I had before committing, I was able to view the initial photos of the adventure, the personal profiles of the adventurers committed to the project, and to dream about Greenland’s lunar landscapes. In spite of the little voice in the back of my head saying, ‘You don’t have the skills of the person who was originally chosen, so don’t be a dead weight and do your best to help out aboard the boat.’ The expression, ‘know when to seize the right opportunity,’ definitely applied here. A few hours later I was on my way to join the crew and to experience an incredible human and athletic adventure that continues to fill me with wonder every time I think about it.”
