Jeanne is a mother and professional skipper since 15 years.
Endearing obstinate and sailor, she discovers her passion for sailing at 18. After a classic first experience on the mini 6,50 category, she moves with success to the Figaro class in 2002. In 2005 Jeanne becomes the first woman in the French offshore racing Championship at the 9th place. Constantly adding sea miles to her logbook, her skipping skills allowed her to participate in numerous grand offshore races such as AG2R Trans-Atlantic, 7 participations and a finish at 2nd place in 2010 or the Figaro Solitaire race, 6 participations.
Jeanne is a dedicated person, very rigorous, stubborn, enthusiast, motivated and her courage has brought her year after year to battle oceans and elements both solitary and as crew member.
Her support in the preparation stage of Maewan and as the most experience crew member is very precious for the success on the first leg of the trip, from Aber Wrach to Iceland
Her motivation for the trip
When I read Erwan’s mail who was looking for a skipper for the first part of the trip from Aber Wrach to Iceland, I instantly said « yes I want to be part of the project ».
All the idea makes me dream. I met Erwan and his crazy mountaineers friends thanks to the Trophée Mer et Montagne and I think this kind of project can be materialized only with this men if we consider all contingencies, improvisations but with structured and professional organization.
Sail to Iceland in February when conditions are 15 hours nights, 40 knots of wind and 5m waves… Thinking about how to upgrade a 32 feet boat for a project like this, is very rewarding.
My challenge is to make the boat go up there safely with a happy crew… and if we success? maybe I will be able to do ice climbing??? »
